Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine Insemination or IUI as it is mostly referred to as is a safe procedure and often the first fertility treatment for couples who lookout to be pregnant. IUI is completely dependent on the natural ability of the sperm to fertilize an egg in the Fallopian Tube. As per the studies conducted, it is a proven fact that IUI will not be as effective in cases where the male has abnormal semen. A semen analysis confirms the health of the male partner’s sperm.

It is well to be noted that the IUI procedure doesn’t require any anesthesia and gets over in a matter of just a few minutes. The process is a simple path for specifically prepared sperm to enter a women’s uterus through a small catheter. The idea is to increase the number of sperm that reach the Fallopian Tube and hence subsequently increase the chances of fertilization.
