Laser Assisted Hatching

Before an embryo gets attached to the womb, it has to hatch or break out from its outer layer which is called the Zona Pellucida. Laser-Assisted Hatching or LAH is a scientific IVF procedure where the embryo is hatched from its protective outer shell by creating an opening. It is however suggested that creating a hole or thinning this outer layer can help embryos to hatch, which can further increase the chances of pregnancy. Though the embryo getting attached to the womb sounds relatively easy, but if the Zona Pellucida is thicker than normal or even fails to break, the implantation may not happen which will negate the chances of pregnancy.
